This full-day, online FASD training program is designed for psychologists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, social workers, teachers and principals, medical staff, out-of-home professionals, positive behaviour support practitioners, justice and youth justice staff & police who will be provided with a comprehensive overview of FASD and training in the fundamental skills needed to support individuals and families impacted.
Based on the book "Explained by Brain: A workbook for parents, carers and educators" and "Mind the Gaps: Tools to Map the Support Needs of Diverse Brains" by Dr Vanessa Spiller and current national and international research, including the 2025 Australian FASD Diagnostic Guidelines.

FASD symptoms and impacts on everyday functioning
Diagnosis and the roles all professionals can play
Brain domains impacted by prenatal alcohol exposure
How brain domains can be "Ability Mapped" to simplify understanding
Brain-based interventions for FASD - a review
The "Explain by Brain" framework
Using "Ability Mapping" to design effective interventions
How to modify environments
How to Modify expectations
Adapting and selecting behaviour modification/parenting strategies for neurodivergent brains
Working with complexity -
aggression, stealing, confabulation, sexualised behaviours, etc
